Administrative / biographical background:

Opened in 1857 at Castle Street as the Ebenezer Chapel by the Wesleyan Association, which became part of the United Methodist Free Churches in 1857, and of the United Methodist Church in 1907. Closed in 1966, and the premises were sold in 1970. For a brief history of the chapels see EMS 28/5/3.
